Rebuilding Connection
Relationships can be a source of deep joy—and pain. When couples feel stuck in cycles of blame, withdrawal, or reactivity, it’s not because they no longer love each other. It’s often because something deeper is happening beneath the surface— Uumet's emotional needs, protective strategies, and patterns that repeat despite our best efforts. Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) helps couples recognize and shift these patterns by getting to the heart of the matter: our need for secure connection.
EFT is an evidence-based and attachment-based therapy that helps us to:
Identify the recurring patterns that keep you stuck
Understand what each partner is truly feeling and needing underneath those patterns
Create space for vulnerable, honest conversations
Learn how to reach for each other with care rather than criticism
Rebuild safety, trust, and intimacy through new experiences of connection
Couples counseling is for any couple, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or relationship style. LGBTQ+ and non-monogamous couples should feel welcome, supported, and included in all couples therapy rooms.
Please note, however, that couples counseling is not suitable for relationships involving abuse or active addiction. If you are struggling with domestic violence or substance abuse, please seek individual counseling.
